Howdy all –

Sorry for the lack of posts and answering comments lately… times are busy.  I tried to knock out a bunch of comment replies today, and I’ve been pretty good about email questions.  I’m traveling a lot lately and working on a number of different projects at once.

Coming up soon here, we will have tons of posts, videos, and other goodies from the DalSegno Productions (Damon’s personal studio) remodeling project. (more…)

BJSR (Ben Rivet) music video shot with the new iPhone July 2, 2009

Our own Ben Rivet teams up with DP Kenny Mosher (Showdown Productions) to produce this amazing video shot in Dayton and Yellow Springs, Ohio. Stay tuned for some amazing behind the scenes footage real soon. Ben is recently back from a six month performing tour and recorded this original song at dal Segno in Dayton and then sent the tracks to Connor Smith to mix and master. I do believe that a longer version of the song will be available soon at BJSR’s Myspace.

As a home/project studio owner, upgrades and equipment purchases need to be as effective as possible (as we often don’t have the biggest of budgets…).  Knowing when to upgrade and what piece of gear (or software) to upgrade first can be a huge benefit.

Studio Etiquette 101: The Talkback Mic November 20, 2008

Other than astronaut training facilities, I can think of very few working situations where the participants are separated by a soundproof wall and communicate through the pressing of a little button.  The recording industry is used to odd areas like the tracking room, where artists sometimes have to yell near the drum overheads to be heard by the engineer…

While the button is physically small, the person who gets to press this tiny non-latching button wields great power.  This person has the power to single-handedly shape the mood of the project.  There are definitely some things you should and should NOT do while in this lofty position… (more…)

Hey All,

Your man about town here with some new gear! I just got the Line 6 JM4 Looper and I’m pumped to get to know this jam-packed station. Line 6 recently released this product to compete with the other popular looping stations made by Boss and DigiTech. Line 6 has a great reputation for producing sturdy, high-quality pedals so I am sure this looper will be no exception.
