Pro Tools Rules of Thumb June 8, 2009

Posted by ConnorSmith in : Digidesign, Pro Tools, Troubleshooting , trackback

I thought I’d post some of the general Pro Tools rules of thumb (both for functionality and troubleshooting).  A lot of the emails and comments questions we get on The Studio Files are concerning some of these Pro Tools FAQs.  Here goes – I’ll just bullet point them in no particular order.

I’ll probably update and bump this post as I think of some more common problems/directions (or if you have questions or suggestions, post them in the comments here)

I’m running a digi 003 rack unit. I have the 8 analog channels from teh digi set up on channels 1-8 and I have a behringer ada8000 digital preamp linked via optical adat set up on channels 9-16. I’m getting signal on all 16 channels (set the I/O to mono on all 16), but when I arm one of the digital channels for recording a hum comes into the picture. The more channels I arm, the louder the hum. There is still signal coming into the channels, but the hum is being recorded. What gives?

Also, I can’t get my computer (Dell XPS, Pentium 4 with 4 gig memory), to recognize the Glyph external drive.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am going to need more specifics in order to help shed some light on the situation.
